GALAXY QUEST

Imagine that GQ coverStar Trek is so popular on another planet that the Martians (or whatever they are) decide to model a ship just like the enterprise. They can't make a difference between pretending for entertainment purposes and lying. So they look at Star Trek and they see "historical documentaries". From here and asking for help to the human "crew" when in crisis, it's just a step. What follows it's a clever, hilariously funny and very moving story. Has it all: love, computers, space ships, ugly monsters. The dialog is brilliant and don't be surprise if you'll find yourself quoting from this film regularly.

Also a great cast: Tim Allen as the commander, Alan Rickman as a dr. Lazarus (kind of a equivalent of the klingonian Lieutenant Worf) , Sigourney Weaver as an assistant in scanty clothing who's only job is to talk to the space ship computer and Tony Shalhoub (Monk) as the nerdy space technician.

If you're poor like me and don't have the money for the DVD - you might not even find it, the film was made in 1999 - you can get it from here.
